**Ilixadencel + sunitinib** is a combination therapy consisting of two distinct agents: ilixadencel, a cell-based, allogeneic dendritic cell immune primer, and sunitinib, a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Ilixadencel is an investigational off-the-shelf anti-cancer vaccine designed to recruit and activate endogenous dendritic cells and stimulate a systemic tumor-specific T-cell immune response when injected intratumorally. Sunitinib inhibits multiple receptor tyrosine kinases involved in tumor angiogenesis and proliferation. This combination therapy has been studied primarily in patients with newly diagnosed metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC), where ilixadencel is administered as two intratumoral injections prior to nephrectomy, followed by standard post-surgical sunitinib therapy. The phase 2 MERECA trial has shown that this combination may increase objective response rates and complete responses compared to sunitinib alone, with a favorable safety profile.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
