Overview

Imatinib mesylate + panitumumab is a combination of two targeted cancer therapies. Imatinib is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks the activity of BCR-ABL, c-Kit, and platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR), thereby inhibiting cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis in certain cancers such as chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST)[2][6]. Panitumumab is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), blocking its activation and downstream signaling pathways involved in tumor cell growth. It is indicated for metastatic colorectal cancer with wild-type RAS[4][8]. The combination has been studied in early-phase clinical trials for metastatic colorectal cancer to explore potential synergistic effects by targeting multiple signaling pathways[5].
