Overview

**Imidacloprid + flumethrin** is a combination topical antiparasitic drug formulated in a slow-release polymer collar for dogs and cats. It contains imidacloprid (a neonicotinoid) and flumethrin (a pyrethroid). Imidacloprid acts as an agonist of insect nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, causing disruption of nervous system function. Flumethrin prolongs activation of sodium channels in insect neuron membranes, leading to persistent depolarization and neurotoxicity. The combination provides synergistic efficacy against fleas (*Ctenocephalides felis*), ticks (*Ixodes ricinus*, *Rhipicephalus sanguineus*, *Dermacentor reticulatus*), chewing lice, and some mites, offering up to 8 months of continuous protection when administered via a collar. The product is approved for use in dogs, puppies (≥7 weeks old), cats, and kittens (≥10 weeks old) and is well-tolerated with minimal systemic side effects or drug interaction risk[1][2][3].
