Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Imidapril + bisoprolol is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used primarily for the treatment of hypertension. Imidapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) that lowers blood pressure by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation, reduced aldosterone secretion, and decreased blood volume. Bisoprolol is a highly selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker (beta-blocker) that reduces heart rate, cardiac output, and renin release from the kidneys. The combination targets two different mechanisms in blood pressure regulation—vasoconstriction via the renin-angiotensin system and sympathetic nervous system activity—providing additive or synergistic antihypertensive effects. This combination may be particularly beneficial for patients with comorbidities such as heart failure or ischemic heart disease[2][6][7].
