Overview

IMM-101 + gemcitabine is a combination therapy being investigated primarily for the treatment of advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. IMM-101 is an immunotherapeutic agent comprising heat-killed whole cell Mycobacterium obuense, designed to modulate the immune system by enhancing immunosurveillance and inducing both innate and adaptive immune responses against tumor cells. Gemcitabine is a cytotoxic antimetabolite chemotherapy that inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to cancer cell death. This combination has demonstrated safety and tolerability comparable to gemcitabine alone, with a suggestion of improved overall survival in patients with metastatic disease in Phase II clinical trials. IMM-101 is developed by Immodulon Therapeutics, while gemcitabine is an approved chemotherapeutic manufactured under brand names such as Gemzar and Infugem by various pharmaceutical companies[1][2][3][5][7][9].
