IMM-101 + gemcitabine + capecitabine is a combination regimen consisting of three agents: IMM-101, an immunotherapeutic agent comprising heat-killed whole cell Mycobacterium obuense that activates both the innate and adaptive immune system; gemcitabine, a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis; and capecitabine, an oral fluoropyrimidine carbamate that is metabolized to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in tumor tissue, disrupting DNA synthesis. IMM-101 is in clinical development in oncology as an adjunct therapy to standard chemotherapy, mainly for cancers such as pancreatic cancer. Gemcitabine and capecitabine are established chemotherapeutics frequently used in combination (GemCap) for pancreatic and other cancers[2][3][4][6][7][8]. The rationale for this triple regimen is to combine immunostimulation (IMM-101) with cytotoxic chemotherapy (gemcitabine and capecitabine) for synergistic antitumor activity.
