Overview
GamaSTAN is a brand name for immune globulin (human), a sterile solution of concentrated antibodies (primarily IgG) derived from pooled human plasma. Developed and marketed by Grifols Therapeutics, it is administered via intramuscular injection to provide immediate, passive immunity. It is primarily indicated for post-exposure prophylaxis of hepatitis A and to prevent or modify the clinical course of measles, rubella, and varicella in susceptible individuals. The product contains 15–18% protein and is stabilized with glycine. Unlike intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) products, GamaSTAN is designed strictly for intramuscular use, with peak IgG levels typically reached approximately 2 days after administration.
