Overview

The Inactivated HAV Vaccine, TZ84 Strain is a biological vaccine developed by the Institute of Medical Biology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS) for the prevention of hepatitis A infection. It utilizes the TZ84 strain of the hepatitis A virus (HAV), which has been adapted to replicate in vitro and is subsequently inactivated. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly, typically in a two-dose schedule with a booster at six months. Clinical studies have demonstrated that the TZ84-strain vaccine provides superior immunogenicity, with protection potentially lasting up to 30 years, and exhibits fewer adverse reactions compared to other inactivated hepatitis A vaccines. It has also shown efficacy in controlling community-wide outbreaks.
