Indocyanine green + technetium Tc 99m nanocolloid is a hybrid diagnostic imaging tracer designed for sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping in various surgical oncology applications, including breast cancer, melanoma, and urological malignancies. The tracer combines the radioactive signal of technetium Tc 99m-labeled human serum albumin nanocolloid with the near-infrared fluorescence of indocyanine green (ICG). After interstitial injection, the nanocolloid particles migrate through the lymphatic system and are phagocytosed by macrophages within the sentinel lymph nodes. The combination allows for a dual-modality detection approach: preoperative localization and deep-tissue detection using gamma cameras or probes (radio-guidance), followed by high-resolution, real-time visual identification of the nodes using near-infrared fluorescence imaging during the surgical procedure.
