Overview

The indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) siRNA cancer vaccine is a preclinical-stage therapeutic developed by ToleroTech in collaboration with Bio-Matrix Scientific Group. This vaccine utilizes small interfering RNA (siRNA) to silence the expression of IDO, an immunosuppressive enzyme frequently overexpressed in the tumor microenvironment. IDO promotes immune tolerance by depleting tryptophan and producing kynurenine, which inhibits T-cell proliferation and activation. By silencing IDO, the vaccine is designed to enhance anti-tumor immune responses, specifically for the treatment of melanoma. ToleroTech, the developer, is an archived biotechnology company formerly based in London, Ontario.
