Overview

Infanrix Hexa + Bexsero refers to the co-administration of two distinct pediatric vaccines: Infanrix Hexa, a hexavalent vaccine, and Bexsero, a multicomponent serogroup B meningococcal vaccine. Infanrix Hexa provides active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, hepatitis B, and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). It contains toxoids, inactivated polioviruses, recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen, and purified pertussis antigens. Bexsero (4CMenB) is designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B and consists of four main components: factor H binding protein (fHbp), Neisserial adhesin A (NadA), Neisserial heparin-binding antigen (NHBA), and outer membrane vesicles (OMV) containing PorA P1.4. This combination is commonly used in routine infant immunization schedules. Clinical research, including studies sponsored by CHU de Quebec-Universite Laval, has focused on evaluating the safety, reactogenicity, and potential immunological interactions when these vaccines are administered concurrently at the same visit versus separate visits.
