Overview

Infanrix hexa + ProQuad refers to the concomitant administration of two distinct vaccine products: Infanrix hexa, a hexavalent vaccine developed by GSK, and ProQuad, a quadrivalent vaccine developed by Merck Sharp & Dohme. Infanrix hexa provides active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) infection using a combination of toxoids, acellular bacterial components, recombinant surface antigens, and inactivated viral strains. ProQuad is a live attenuated vaccine that protects against measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella. This combination regimen is typically evaluated in pediatric populations (12 to 23 months of age) to simplify immunization schedules by delivering protection against ten pathogens during a single clinical visit. Clinical trials, such as NCT00432523, have demonstrated that simultaneous administration at separate injection sites maintains safety and immunogenicity comparable to separate administration.
