Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Infanrix-IPV + Hib is a pentavalent combination vaccine developed by GSK for the active immunization of infants and toddlers. It provides protection against five major childhood diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis (polio), and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). The vaccine formulation consists of diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, three purified pertussis antigens (pertussis toxoid, filamentous haemagglutinin, and pertactin), inactivated poliovirus (types 1, 2, and 3), and Hib capsular polysaccharide (polyribosylribitol phosphate) conjugated to tetanus toxoid. It is typically administered as a primary vaccination course in the first year of life, often followed by a booster dose in the second year, to ensure long-term immunity.
