Overview

This is a combination of two drugs: - **Infliximab** is a chimeric monoclonal IgG1 antibody that targets and neutralizes tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), a key proinflammatory cytokine involved in chronic inflammatory diseases. By binding to both soluble and membrane-bound TNF-α, infliximab disrupts its interaction with receptors and may induce lysis of TNF-α-producing cells. It is primarily used for autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease[1]. - **Gemcitabine** is a nucleoside analog antimetabolite chemotherapeutic agent. As a prodrug metabolized intracellularly to active diphosphate and triphosphate forms (dFdCDP/dFdCTP), it incorporates into DNA during replication causing chain termination and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. It is used for various cancers including pancreatic cancer (as monotherapy) as well as ovarian cancer (with carboplatin), breast cancer (with paclitaxel), non-small cell lung carcinoma (with cisplatin), among others[2][4].
