Overview

Infliximab + ustekinumab is a combination of two monoclonal antibody biologics used as dual targeted therapy for inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Infliximab is an anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha (anti-TNF-α) monoclonal antibody that binds to TNF-α and inhibits its pro-inflammatory activity. Ustekinumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets the p40 subunit shared by interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interleukin-23 (IL-23), preventing their interaction with the IL-12Rβ1 receptor and thereby inhibiting downstream inflammatory signaling. The combination aims to achieve higher remission rates in patients who are refractory to monotherapy by targeting different inflammatory pathways[1][6][8].
