Overview

Influenza A (H1N1) vaccine, split-virion, non-adjuvanted is a monovalent, inactivated influenza vaccine containing split viral particles from the A/California/7/2009(H1N1)v-like strain. It is produced by growing the virus in embryonated hens' eggs, inactivating the virus with ultraviolet and formaldehyde treatment, and then disrupting viral particles using sodium deoxycholate to yield a split-virion formulation[1]. The vaccine does not contain an adjuvant. Its primary indication is for active immunization against influenza A (H1N1) during pandemic situations, aiming to induce immunity to the H1N1 strain by stimulating the recipient’s humoral immune response against the hemagglutinin protein.
