influenza b virus (victoria lineage) haemagglutinin, recombinant is a purified recombinant protein subunit representing the hemagglutinin (HA) surface glycoprotein of the Victoria lineage of the Influenza B virus. Developed by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline), this substance serves as a key antigenic component in next-generation quadrivalent recombinant influenza vaccine (qRIV) candidates, such as GSK3206641A. The protein is typically produced using a baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) in insect cell lines, a method that allows for rapid production and avoids the egg-adaptive mutations that can occur with traditional egg-based vaccine manufacturing. As a vaccine antigen, it is designed to induce the production of neutralizing antibodies that bind to the HA protein of circulating B/Victoria influenza strains, thereby preventing the virus from attaching to and entering host respiratory cells. It is primarily being evaluated for the prevention of seasonal influenza in adults and the elderly.
