Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Influenza B virus vaccine (Symvivo) is a preclinical-stage DNA vaccine candidate being developed by Symvivo Corporation for the prevention of Influenza B virus infection. The vaccine utilizes Symvivo's proprietary bacTRL™ platform technology, which employs genetically engineered probiotic bacteria (specifically *Bifidobacterium longum*) to deliver plasmid DNA encoding influenza B antigens. Administered either orally or intravenously, the platform enables the patient's own cells to express these antigens in vivo, thereby eliciting a targeted immune response. This approach combines elements of gene therapy and microbial therapy to provide a scalable and potentially more effective alternative to traditional influenza vaccines.
