Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Efluelda + Spikevax is a co-administration regimen consisting of two distinct, approved vaccines: Efluelda (the European brand name for Fluzone High-Dose) and Spikevax (Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine). Efluelda is a quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine containing a higher dose of hemagglutinin (60 µg per strain) compared to standard-dose vaccines, specifically designed to elicit a stronger immune response in adults aged 65 and older. Spikevax is an mRNA-based vaccine that encodes the prefusion-stabilized spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. In clinical research, this regimen is used as an active comparator to evaluate the effectiveness of investigational combination vaccines, such as Moderna's mRNA-1083 (mCombriax), which aims to provide protection against both seasonal influenza and COVID-19 in a single injection.
