Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hualan TIV is a trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (TIV) developed and manufactured by Hualan Biological Engineering Inc. It is designed to provide active immunization against three strains of the influenza virus, typically including two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and one influenza B lineage (either Victoria or Yamagata), as recommended annually by the World Health Organization (WHO). The vaccine is produced using an egg-based manufacturing process where the virus is grown in embryonated chicken eggs, inactivated, and purified. It is primarily used in the Chinese market for the prevention of seasonal influenza in children and adults. In clinical research, it has served as a reference comparator for evaluating the immunogenicity and safety of other influenza vaccines, such as Sanofi Pasteur's Shenzhen-manufactured TIV.
