Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CSL trivalent influenza vaccine (CSL TIV), marketed under the brand name **Fluvax**, is a sterile, thiomersal-free, inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine developed by **CSL Seqirus** (formerly bioCSL). It is formulated to contain 45 mcg of total haemagglutinin (HA) antigen per 0.5 mL dose, comprising 15 mcg from each of three seasonal influenza strains (typically two influenza A strains and one influenza B strain). The vaccine works by inducing an immune response against the surface antigen haemagglutinin of the influenza virus, providing protection against seasonal influenza. It is administered via intramuscular injection and has been evaluated in pediatric populations (aged 5 to <9 years) to assess safety and tolerability, particularly the frequency and intensity of fever post-vaccination.
