Overview

AdimFlu-S is an inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine developed by Adimmune Corporation (Guoguang Biotechnology). It is produced by growing the influenza virus in embryonated chicken eggs, followed by inactivation with formaldehyde and chemical disruption (splitting) using detergents such as Triton X-100. This splitting process reduces the reactogenicity of the vaccine while preserving the immunogenicity of essential surface antigens, primarily hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). The vaccine is available in both trivalent (containing two A strains and one B strain) and quadrivalent (containing two A strains and two B strains) formulations, which are updated annually in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations for the Northern or Southern Hemisphere influenza seasons. It is indicated for active immunization to prevent influenza caused by the specific virus subtypes and lineages included in the formulation.
