Overview

The term influenza virus vaccine-St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-influenza refers to the intervention protocol used in the FluVIT clinical trial (NCT02649192) conducted at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This Phase 2 study evaluated whether oral supplementation with Vitamin A (20,000 IU retinyl palmitate) and Vitamin D3 (2,000 IU cholecalciferol) could enhance the immunogenicity of standard seasonal influenza vaccines in healthy children aged 2 to 8 years. The trial utilized commercially available seasonal vaccines, including the live-attenuated FluMist and various inactivated split-virion vaccines, administered alongside chewable vitamin gummies. The study aimed to determine if these vitamins could act as immunomodulators to improve antibody induction, particularly in children with baseline vitamin deficiencies.
