This combination therapy consists of injectable platelet-rich fibrin (I-PRF) and biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP), specifically evaluated by Assiut University for maxillary sinus floor augmentation. I-PRF is a second-generation autologous platelet concentrate produced by centrifuging the patient's blood without anticoagulants, resulting in a liquid fibrinogen that gradually clots into a fibrin matrix. This matrix serves as a reservoir for high concentrations of platelets, leukocytes, and essential growth factors—including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)—which stimulate osteoblast proliferation and angiogenesis. BCP is a synthetic bone substitute composed of hydroxyapatite and beta-tricalcium phosphate, providing an osteoconductive scaffold for new bone formation. The combination is used to treat maxillary bone atrophy in the posterior maxilla, facilitating dental implant placement by enhancing bone regeneration and reducing the need for autogenous bone harvesting.
