Overview

This investigational autologous cell therapy, developed by the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, consists of the co-infusion of invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells and PD-1+ CD8+ T cells. The therapy is a biologic/cellular immunotherapy modality where a patient's own immune cells are collected, expanded ex vivo (often utilizing dendritic cells for stimulation), and then reinfused. iNKT cells are a unique subset of lymphocytes that recognize glycolipid antigens presented by the CD1d molecule, bridging innate and adaptive immunity. The PD-1+ CD8+ T cell component is specifically selected as these cells are hypothesized to be tumor-reactive in patients with advanced malignancies. The therapy is designed to directly target tumor cells and modulate the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment across various advanced solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma.
