inosine pranobex (Themis Medicare Limited)

Inosine pranobex is a synthetic antiviral and immunomodulatory drug composed of inosine and dimepranol acedoben (a salt of acetamidobenzoic acid and dimethylaminoisopropanol) in a 1:3 ratio. It enhances host immune responses by stimulating T-cell lymphocyte proliferation, increasing natural killer cell activity, and boosting pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-2 and interferon-gamma. These effects restore deficient immune responses in immunosuppressed patients. Inosine pranobex also inhibits the growth of several viruses by affecting viral RNA levels. Clinically, it is used to treat subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), mucocutaneous herpes simplex virus infections (types 1 and 2), genital warts (as adjunctive therapy), human papillomavirus infection, cytomegalovirus infection, Epstein–Barr virus infection, acute viral respiratory infections including influenza and measles, as well as for general immunosuppressed states[1][2][4][5].
