Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Treprostinil palmitil (INS1009) is a long-acting prodrug of treprostinil designed for inhalation as a dry powder formulation (TPIP). It consists of treprostinil linked by an ester bond to a 16-carbon palmitic acid chain. This modification allows for sustained pulmonary delivery and prolonged action compared to standard formulations. Treprostinil is a prostacyclin analog that acts as a vasodilator and inhibits platelet aggregation. INS1009 is being developed primarily for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD). The drug aims to improve exercise capacity and quality of life in affected patients by reducing pulmonary vascular resistance[3][4][5].
