Overview

A combination of insulin and propranolol. Insulin is a hormone used to treat diabetes mellitus by promoting glucose uptake from the blood into cells. Propranolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic antagonist (beta-blocker) used to treat various conditions including hypertension, angina, atrial fibrillation, and migraines. When used together, propranolol may increase the risk, severity, and duration of hypoglycemia in patients receiving insulin by masking some warning signs of low blood sugar and potentially enhancing insulin's blood-glucose-lowering effects.
