Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Insulatard NovoRapid 30 is a regional or trial-specific name for biphasic insulin aspart 30 (BIAsp 30), a premixed insulin analogue developed by Novo Nordisk. It is a biologic formulation combining 30% rapid-acting soluble insulin aspart (NovoRapid) and 70% intermediate-acting protamine-crystallized insulin aspart (analogous to the action of Insulatard). This dual-action profile provides both rapid postprandial glucose control and prolonged basal insulin coverage with a single subcutaneous injection. The drug acts as an agonist at the insulin receptor, promoting glucose uptake into skeletal muscle and fat while inhibiting hepatic glucose production. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and is commercially known as NovoMix 30 or NovoLog Mix 30.
