Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Insulin degludec + insulin lispro is a combination therapy that utilizes two different insulin formulations to provide comprehensive glycemic control in diabetes. Insulin degludec is a long-acting basal insulin analog that provides a steady background insulin level for approximately 24 hours, helping to control blood glucose during fasting periods. Insulin lispro is a rapid-acting insulin analog with onset of action in 10-15 minutes, peak activity at about 60 minutes, and duration of 4-5 hours, designed to mimic postprandial insulin spikes. This combination allows for both basal glucose control and mealtime coverage in patients with diabetes mellitus.
