Insulin degludec + ultra rapid lispro is a fixed-ratio combination of two distinct insulins used for the management of diabetes mellitus. Insulin degludec is an ultra-long-acting basal insulin analog that provides prolonged, steady glucose-lowering activity by forming multihexamers in subcutaneous tissue, resulting in slow and consistent absorption. Ultra rapid lispro (URLi) is a novel formulation of insulin lispro designed to more closely mimic physiological prandial insulin response, with faster onset and shorter duration than conventional rapid-acting insulins. The combination aims to provide both basal and mealtime glucose control in people with diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes mellitus. URLi has demonstrated superior postprandial glucose control compared to standard lispro when combined with basal insulins such as degludec[1][4][8].
