Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy using two different types of insulin. Insulin detemir (Levemir) is a long-acting insulin that provides basal insulin coverage for up to 24 hours. Insulin lispro (Humalog) is a rapid-acting insulin that starts working within 15 minutes and provides mealtime coverage. When used together, they provide comprehensive glycemic control for patients with diabetes mellitus. Both insulins work by binding to insulin receptors, activating tyrosine kinase activity, and regulating glucose transport and metabolism, but they have different onset times and durations of action due to their unique molecular modifications.
