Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Insulin lispro mix25 is a premixed insulin analog formulation containing 25% insulin lispro (a rapid-acting insulin) and 75% insulin lispro protamine suspension (an intermediate-acting insulin). Developed by Eli Lilly and Company and marketed under brand names such as Humalog Mix25 or Humalog Mix 75/25, it is indicated for the treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus who require insulin for the maintenance of glucose homeostasis. The rapid-acting component provides quick onset to cover mealtime glucose excursions, while the protamine-bound component extends the duration of action to provide basal insulin coverage. It is administered subcutaneously, typically twice daily before meals.
