Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a combination of two biphasic premixed insulins used for the management of diabetes mellitus. Each component is itself a fixed-ratio mixture: - **Insulin lispro Mix25** contains 25% rapid-acting insulin lispro solution and 75% intermediate-acting insulin lispro protamine suspension. - **Insulin lispro Mix50** contains 50% rapid-acting insulin lispro solution and 50% intermediate-acting insulin lispro protamine suspension. Both are recombinant DNA-derived human insulins designed to provide both prandial (mealtime) and basal (background) glycemic control. Insulin lowers blood glucose by facilitating cellular uptake of glucose in muscle and fat tissue while inhibiting hepatic glucose production. The combination provides flexibility in matching individual patient needs for mealtime coverage versus basal requirements[1][2][8][9].
