Overview

HeberFERON is a synergistic combination of recombinant human interferon alpha-2b and recombinant human interferon gamma-1b. Developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) in Cuba, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma (BCC). The combination of these two interferons results in a more potent antiproliferative, pro-apoptotic, and immunomodulatory effect than either component alone, acting through the induction of apoptosis and inhibition of angiogenesis. It is typically administered via perilesional or intralesional injection and has been shown to reduce tumor size and the need for extensive surgery in patients with skin cancer, including those with lesions in difficult-to-treat areas like the face.
