Overview

This combination therapy involves the sequential administration of recombinant interferon gamma (IFN-γ) and various T cell populations, including Cytokine-Induced Killer (CIK) cells, Central Memory T (Tcm) cells, or Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells. Developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University, the regimen is specifically designed for the treatment of refractory malignant pleural effusion and malignant ascites. IFN-γ is administered directly into the pleural or peritoneal cavity to modulate the local immune environment, increase MHC expression, and enhance the antitumor activity of the subsequently infused T cells. The T cells are selected sequentially based on the patient's clinical response and the characteristics of the effusion fluid. This localized, synergistic approach aims to control fluid accumulation and target underlying malignant cells in patients who have failed standard therapeutic interventions.
