Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Interleukin-2 + PD-1 refers to a combination therapeutic regimen consisting of the cytokine interleukin-2 (IL-2) and a checkpoint inhibitor targeting the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor. In clinical development, such as Grit Biotechnology's GT201 program, this combination is utilized to enhance the activity and persistence of autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in patients with advanced solid tumors. IL-2 provides essential growth signals to T-cells, while the PD-1 inhibitor prevents tumor-mediated T-cell exhaustion by blocking inhibitory signaling. This dual approach aims to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and improve the efficacy of adoptive cell therapies or endogenous immune responses.
