Overview

A combination therapy consisting of interleukin-2 (IL-2) and rapamycin (sirolimus). This combination works by modulating the immune system, particularly through effects on regulatory T cells (Tregs). Rapamycin inhibits the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), suppressing T-cell activation and proliferation, while low-dose IL-2 selectively expands regulatory T cells. Together, they appear to create a balanced immune response that may be beneficial in autoimmune conditions and transplantation settings.
