Overview

Intetumumab (formerly known as CNTO 95) is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets all members of the αv integrin family and exhibits anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor activity. Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits angiogenesis by binding to vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby preventing it from activating its receptors on the surface of endothelial cells. The combination of intetumumab and bevacizumab has been studied for its potential to provide dual inhibition of tumor angiogenesis in patients with refractory solid tumors. Intetumumab was developed by Janssen/Johnson & Johnson; bevacizumab was developed by Genentech/Roche. Bevacizumab is approved for multiple cancers including colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, glioblastoma, renal cell carcinoma, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer and others[2][3][4][5][6].
