Overview

A synbiotic combination of inulin (a dietary prebiotic fiber) and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum LPm77 (a probiotic bacterial strain). This formulation acts by modulating the gut-liver axis, enhancing beneficial gut microbiota, restoring intestinal barrier function, regulating bile acid metabolism, and favorably affecting metabolic and immune parameters. In preclinical models of type 2 diabetes mellitus, the synbiotic reduces hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and hepatic steatosis. Mechanistically, inulin promotes the colonization and activity of L. plantarum LPm77, while the combination increases the biosynthesis of tauro-ursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA), activates the bile acid receptor TGR5, and suppresses inflammatory pathways (notably TLR4–NF-κB) associated with metabolic dysregulation[1][3].
