investigational lubricating eye drop (Johnson & Johnson Vision Care)

This is an investigational, preservative-free lubricating eye drop developed by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. for the treatment of dry eye symptoms. The formulation is delivered via the Novelia® multidose bottle system, a specialized dropper that maintains sterility without the need for traditional preservatives like benzalkonium chloride. The solution contains a combination of lubricants, including Polyethylene Glycol 400 and Sodium Hyaluronate, along with an electrolyte balance (Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, and Magnesium chlorides) and a borate buffering system. It is designed to provide mechanical lubrication to the ocular surface and supplement the tear film to alleviate dryness and irritation. The product was evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT05661851) comparing its safety and efficacy to Blink® Tears in non-contact lens wearers.
