Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Iodinated (125 I) human serum albumin is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical consisting of human serum albumin labeled with the radioactive isotope iodine-125. Administered intravenously, it distributes within the vascular compartment (plasma space) and serves as the gold-standard reference method for the determination of total blood and plasma volume via radioactivity dilution. It is primarily indicated for diagnosing and monitoring conditions involving abnormal blood or plasma volume, such as polycythemia and anemia with hemodilution. It is also utilized in clinical research as a reference standard to evaluate novel plasma volume tracers.
