Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of three agents: - **Ipilimumab** is a monoclonal antibody that targets cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated protein 4 (CTLA-4), functioning as an immune checkpoint inhibitor to enhance T-cell mediated anti-tumor responses. - **Nivolumab** is a monoclonal antibody targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), also acting as an immune checkpoint inhibitor, further promoting the immune system's ability to attack cancer cells. - **Lurbinectedin** is a small molecule antineoplastic agent that binds to the minor groove of DNA, inhibiting transcription and leading to apoptosis in cancer cells. The combination has been investigated primarily for relapsed or recurrent small cell lung cancer (SCLC) after progression on first-line platinum-based chemotherapy. The rationale for combining these agents is to leverage both direct cytotoxic effects (lurbinectedin) and enhanced anti-tumor immunity via dual checkpoint inhibition (ipilimumab and nivolumab)[1][4][5].
