Overview

IPSRT + quetiapine is a combination therapy consisting of Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT), a structured psychotherapy designed to stabilize daily routines and interpersonal relationships, and quetiapine, an atypical antipsychotic medication. This combination is primarily investigated for the treatment of bipolar II depression. IPSRT focuses on improving mood stability by regulating social rhythms and addressing interpersonal issues, while quetiapine acts pharmacologically by antagonizing multiple neurotransmitter receptors in the brain, including serotonin (5-HT2A) and dopamine (D2) receptors. The rationale for combining these modalities is to address both psychosocial factors contributing to mood episodes as well as neurochemical imbalances[1][2][3].
