Overview

IPV + Rotarix refers to the co-administration of two vaccines in a single immunization visit: - Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV): A parenteral, inactivated vaccine that induces immunity against poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3. It works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against poliovirus without causing disease. - Rotarix (Rotavirus vaccine, live attenuated): An oral vaccine containing live attenuated human rotavirus strain RIX4414. It is indicated for the prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis caused by G1 and non-G1 types (G3, G4, and G9) when administered as a two-dose series in infants. The combination is not a pre-mixed product but rather describes simultaneous administration of these two vaccines during routine pediatric immunization schedules. Clinical studies have shown no significant immune interference or safety concerns when IPV and Rotarix are given together; both maintain their efficacy and safety profiles[5][6][8][9]. This approach streamlines vaccination visits for infants.
