**IR780 + FOM-cRGD** is a combination nanoplatform consisting of the near-infrared dye IR-780 iodide and a targeting moiety functionalized by a cyclic RGD peptide (cRGD), typically delivered via a nanocarrier system such as solid lipid nanoparticles or micelles. IR780 acts as a photosensitizer for both photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT), producing heat and reactive oxygen species upon near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation to induce tumor cell death. The FOM-cRGD component enables active targeting to tumors with high expression of αvβ3 integrin, delivering IR780 more selectively to cancer cells. As a result, this combination achieves enhanced tumor accumulation, improved imaging-guided therapy, and increased therapeutic efficacy while limiting effect on normal tissue[7]. The formulation is being investigated primarily for use in cancer, especially for targeted therapy and imaging of tumors overexpressing αvβ3 integrins.
