Overview

This combination therapy consists of a liposomal formulation of **irinotecan**, a topoisomerase I inhibitor, and **epirubicin**, an anthracycline topoisomerase II inhibitor. The regimen is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial (NCT06766266) by the **First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University** for the treatment of recurrent non-muscle invasive bladder urothelial carcinoma (NMIBC) in patients who have failed prior anthracycline therapy. The treatment strategy involves systemic (intravenous) administration of irinotecan liposomes to potentially reverse anthracycline resistance, combined with local (intravesical) instillation of epirubicin. The liposomal delivery system for irinotecan is designed to improve the drug's pharmacokinetic profile and enhance its delivery to tumor tissues.
