Iron sucrose + erythropoietin is a combination therapy used primarily to treat iron deficiency anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease, especially those undergoing hemodialysis. Iron sucrose is an intravenous iron replacement product that replenishes body iron stores, enabling the production of hemoglobin and red blood cells. Erythropoietin is a recombinant human hormone that stimulates erythroid precursor cells in the bone marrow to increase red blood cell production. The combination addresses both insufficient iron stores and inadequate endogenous erythropoietin levels, which are common in chronic kidney disease patients. This therapy rapidly increases hemoglobin, ferritin, and transferrin saturation levels[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
