Overview

**IrPlfxCu(phen)** (Cu(II) complex 3) is a heteronuclear binuclear iridium(III)–copper(II) coordination compound formulated as [Ir(η5-Cp*)Cl2Plfx-Cu(phen)], where Plfx refers to a phosphine ligand derived from levofloxacin, and "phen" denotes the 1,10-phenanthroline chelator on copper(II)[1]. This complex is designed for anticancer applications, having demonstrated in vitro cytotoxicity against lung carcinoma, breast adenocarcinoma, prostate carcinoma, and melanoma cell lines with markedly lower toxicity to normal cells[1]. Its mechanism of action includes generation of reactive oxygen species and cell cycle arrest (S phase), with preferential accumulation in the nuclei of cancer cells[1].
