Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IRX-2 + pembrolizumab is a combination immunotherapy regimen being investigated for various cancer indications. IRX-2 is an allogeneic, cell-derived biologic with multiple active cytokine components, including IL-2, IL-1β, IFNγ, and TNFα, that act on various parts of the immune system to activate the entire tumor microenvironment. It is produced by stimulating peripheral blood mononuclear cells of normal donors with phytohemagglutinin. Pembrolizumab is a PD-1 inhibitor checkpoint immunotherapy. The combination aims to enhance anti-cancer immune responses by activating dendritic cells, T cells, and natural killer cells to overcome tumor-mediated immunosuppression.
